![]() His words, eerily prophetic over 50 years ago – now ring true. While we are on the subject of the Devil, I am sharing a piece “If I were the Devil”, written by Paul Harvey, and recorded and broadcast in 1965. The beauty that each of us shares is that we are wonderfully made by His hand, each one of us His own personal masterpiece, transformed by Christ Jesus – It doesn’t get much more beautiful than that. I am asking God to help me remind me daily, what true beauty is. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.” (1 Peter 3:3-4) Peter puts everything in perspective – “Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. We see evidence of this in media tabloids, in movies, and in magazines across the world – another deceit of the devil himself. As a result, humanity places a value on beauty that Satan himself has designed. On the other hand, Jesus shows us truth of life, all the while reminding us that He is the Way, the Truth and the Life, and He will guide us as we make our way through the storms of life, no matter how ugly the road looks before us. He shows us what we want to see and hear, instead of the reality of what is before us, deceiving us toward our own downfall. With the same deceit of a harlot, Satan entices the world with his beauty and cunning behavior. I know that with my simple mind, I many times look on the outward appearance of man when I should look more on the inward. We value appearance greatly, but maybe God doesn’t so much. Our Lord redefines the word beauty, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. We read in Isaiah that physically Jesus has no beauty in His appearance to attract us to him, but because of His love and grace, men and women have been drawn to Him since He died on a rugged cross for our sins over 2000 years ago. Satan is perfect in beauty on the outside, yet ugly and grotesque on the inside. So I threw you to the earth I made a spectacle of you before kings.” Ezekiel 28:17 “Your heart became proud on account of your beauty, and you corrupted your wisdom because of your splendor. ![]() Yet the account of Satan in the Bible tells of the beauty of Lucifer. Based on physical appearance alone, Jesus would lose to Lucifer as the Bible tells us in Isaiah 53:2 “He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.” The Bible tells us that this creation is “perfect in beauty.” Apart from God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, Lucifer was the highest being created.Ģ Corinthians 11:14 “Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light”.Īs humans we often make the mistake and judge or determine a value on a person according to their outward appearance. No other angel, no other being was created with the intelligence and beauty that God gave to him. God says of him, “You were the seal of perfection, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.” Satan was the wisest creature God ever created. Ezekiel 28 tells us that Satan was “the anointed cherub.” These statements by God referring to Lucifer show him to be the most exalted creature that God created. I always see Satan depicted as this red, horned, hideous-looking creature, when in all actuality he is one of the most beautiful of all of God’s creation.
